Garland Animal Shelter

Garland Animal Shelter & Adoption Center is operated by Garland Animal Services, a City of Garland department providing animal welfare and public-safety services. The shelter cares for homeless, stray, surrendered, and impounded animals while offering adoption, lost-and-found assistance, animal control, rescue coordination, community education, microchipping, vaccination clinics, and other programs supporting responsible pet ownership and healthier animal populations.

In Business Since 2020

Garland Animal Services has operated from a previous 1960s-era shelter before the City replaced it with a modern facility. Construction on the new Animal Shelter & Adoption Center began in December 2020, and the 23,000-square-foot facility officially opened on February 11, 2022. The new center doubled animal capacity and added expanded housing, play yards, surgical space, and community education facilities.
